The Summit
The Mountain & Resort Town Planners Summit is an annual gathering focused on the distinct challenges and opportunities facing planners, designers, and community leaders in mountain and resort communities across North America.
Mountain and resort towns have long been at the forefront of managing rapid change—balancing growth, tourism, and housing affordability while addressing climate resilience, infrastructure capacity, and the preservation of local character. In the sensitive built and natural environments of these places, impacts are immediate and visible. The Summit provides a rare forum to connect across jurisdictions, exchange ideas, showcase solutions, and co-create strategies for thriving, resilient, and livable mountain communities.
Intentionally small and highly interactive, the Summit emphasizes real-world case studies, peer learning, and candid dialogue about what’s working—and what isn’t. Covering land use, transportation, visitor management, housing, and environmental stewardship, the program reflects the core issues shaping our towns today.
Whether you’re a municipal planner, consultant, nonprofit leader, elected official, or simply passionate about the future of mountain places, the Summit offers inspiration, practical tools, and enduring connections.
